Ephraim is a descendant of the immigrant Timothy Ezell and most records only list 3 children for him: John, Levi, and Lundy. Census records indicate that he had more children than that, but they are the pre-1850 records that don't list names. My theory is that one of the unnamed sons was Samuel because, according to the 1860 census, Ephraim and Martha lived with Samuel Ezell and his family as an old man. It's possible Samuel was not a son, but that doesn't seem likely to me.

I also found Ephraim Ezell in the War of 1812 Service Records. He was in the "1 Reg't (Means') South Carolina Militia." (I have no idea what that signifies!) He was a private.
